Getting replacement air filters is not a luxury.
Failure to replace your home's heating and air conditioning filters regularly costs you—in higher utility costs, breakdown of HVAC equipment, and unnecessary replacement expenses. Dirty filters can also affect the air quality in your home, which is a problem for everyone, especially those with asthma or allergies. Then there's your carbon footprint—old filters cause your heating and cooling systems to run less efficiently and use more energy.
So why wouldn't you get replacement air filters every few months? You're busy, and it's not easy to stay on top of it. Now you can purchase filters from Chapman Air & Heat and we will ship them to you - no stress, no fuss.

What are MERV Ratings?MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) is the industry-standard ratings system used to measure the effectiveness of air conditioner filters. Ratings for residential and commercial AC filters typically fall between MERV 5 and MERV 12.
Filters with higher MERV ratings remove more small particles from your air than lower-rated filters.
The MERV system was developed in 1987 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the international trade group that represents HVAC professinoals.
MERV ratings range from 1 - 16 and measurements are in microns. Some of the common particles related to MERV ratings are pet dander, insecticide dust, smog, dust, viruses, wood, tobacco smoke, spores, bacteria and pollen.

What does MERV Rating have to do with choosing an air filter?MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Rating Value. This is an industry standard rating system that allows you to compare filters made by different manufacturers.
A MERV rating is a numerical value ranging from 1 (lowest efficiency) to 20 (highest efficiency) and tells the consumer how well the filter captures and holds dirt and dust of a specified size range. This chart shows the MERV ratings, corresponding particle size ranges, and efficiency level as measured by the percentage of particles captured. |
